Nax was a clone trooper who participated in the Battle of Teth with the rest of Torrent Company. He survived the battle that killed troopers in the LAAT/i gunships.[2] Nax would survive the Clone Wars, only to live as a homeless veteran on Daiyu.[3]

History

Born approximately in 29 BBY, one of the younger models, Nax was cloned from the genetic template of Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett.[4][5] Nax was trained extensively and eventually was deployed with the Grand Army of the Republic at the First Battle of Geonosis. In 22 BBY, Nax and his unit were deployed to the planet of Christophsis to defend the locals from Separatist forces. During their time of the planet, a traitor sabotaged the artillery and tanks, forcing the company to utilize the heavy cannons against the Separatist forces.[6] Due to this, the Republic forces were outgunned by Separatists battle droids. However, the 501st and 212th managed to overcome the odds and destroy the Separatist threat, with Nax surviving the battle.[7] Shortly thereafter, Nax was assigned with his unit, Torrent Company, to rescue Rotta the Hutt from the Separatists, though it was unknown that it was the Separatists at that time, on the jungle planet of Teth.[8] The company deployed in LAAT/i Gunships, while dwarf spider droids attacked them, which brought down numerous gunships. Nax had assaulted the monastery with Torrent Company and secured the location. However, after Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano arrived with the Huttlet, Separatist forces attacked the monastery. By the end of the skirmish, Skywalker and Tano had retreated to deliver Rotta to his father, while the company had mostly been eliminated or captured.[8] Torrent Company, Nax included, resisted their capture and managed to turn the tide of the battle once again, holding out until the 212th Attack Battalion arrived, providing reinforcements and eventually winning the assault.[8][9] By the end of the battle, Torrent Company was left in shambles, with Nax surviving alongside Captain Rex, Sergeant Coric, Attie, Del, Zeer, and Ridge.[9][10][2]

In 20 BBY, Nax was deployed to the Battle of Umbara, alongside the 501st, 212th, and numerous other detachments.[7] During the battle, Jedi General Anakin Skywalker was called back to Coruscant and replaced by Jedi General Pong Krell.[11] With Krell in charge, the 501st suffered intensive casualties due to Krell's tactics. Nax was with the rest of the 501st when they captured the Umbaran airbase, despite facing the Umbaran's heavy vehicles and cannons.[12] Nax would eventually aid the 501st and the platoon of 212th in arresting Krell for treason, after Waxer revealed Krell had ordered the 212th to fire upon the 501st under the guise that Umbarans had stolen clone trooper armor. Krell fought against the troopers but eventually was stunned, arrested, and executed for treason.[13] In 19 BBY, the Clone Wars ended, with the Galactic Republic being re-organized into the Galactic Empire and the Jedi being deemed traitors.[14] Following an incident in 18 BBY resulting in the destruction of Kamino at the hands of Imperial Vice Admiral Rampart, Emperor Sheev Palpatine dictated that the clones be phased out of active duty, as they could no longer be trusted.[15] Thus, the clones were decommissioned and retired. However, while Nax was fortunate to survive the Clone Wars, he eventually became destitute, due to the lack of funds raised for clone retirement.[3][16] In 9 BBY, he had a brief encounter with former Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi on the planet of Daiyu.[3] Kenobi recognized that Nax had served in the 501st Legion due to his Phase II clone trooper armor with blue markings, traumatized by the execution of Order 66. Kenobi donated credits to the veteran and walked away, with Nax nodded in appreciation.[3]

Personality and Traits

Nax was cloned from genetic template of Jango Fett, owning characteristics of the bounty hunter, including his black hair and brown eyes.[4] Nax had a habit of mimicking celebrities and other personalities from worlds.[2] By 9 BBY, with his advanced aging working against him, biologically he had the body of a forty year old, when in reality, he had only been alive for twenty years.[3][5] While he had been well-groomed in the war, he had no luxuries, so his hair and beard grew an exponential amount.[3]
