This is an update to how many units should be displayed in the infobox section of a page. As you may have noticed, when there are too many bullet points after each other like this:
- chicken
- more chicken
- most chicken
- mostest chicken
- most chicken
- more chicken
The resulting effect is that the infobox gets stretched and it comes up looking very odd and offset.
From now on, all infoboxes that have Unit(s) Within: as a section (Just unit infobox I believe) should only have two unit tiers in it. For example, let's say Battalion A has this structure:
Battalion A
- Chicken Company
- Pasta Platoon
- Noodle Squad
- Pasta Platoon
- Beef Company
- Cow Platoon
- Hamburger Squad
In the infobox section, you need only put the first two tiers. So Noodle Squad, being the third tier down, should not be included. In the example, Hamburger Squad, despite being the tiny unit of a squad, is not subordinate to another unit, so it counts as the first tier and can be added.
To put it as simply as possible, all infoboxes unit sections should have a maximum of two bullet point indents.
For character infoboxes, the old rule (which is still a rule now) is that only 1 unit, the smallest unit, should be displayed. An edit to is this being made:
officers should have the unit they are in charge of, rather than the smallest unit. (example: for Cody, one should not be "A" Squad since he is a leader. One should put 7th Sky Corps.) As like before, this should only go to two bullet indents (example: 7thy Sky Corps, 212th Attack Battalion, then stop).
This change will serve two major benefits:
- a) Many infoboxes will stop being infinitely stretched and look weird
- b) This will get rid of the clutter of information within an infobox. Character pages already have unit information within the first paragraph of the page typically, and units have Units Within sections in them anyway. The infobox unit sections will now just have the essential information and the page can detail the rest.
